Numerical Investigation on the Interaction between a U-Shaped Pile Supporting Structure and an Adjacent Gravity Retaining Wall in River Dredging

There is significant interaction between the new supporting structure and existing adjacent retaining wall in dredging excavation project of urban rivers. In addition, three factors, spatial location, stiffness structures, soil conditions two sides will exert effects on bearing properties structures. Combined with an actual project, FLAC3D software was applied to analyze influencing rule U-shaped concrete sheet pile (USCSP) section size, length, height, pile–wall spacing gravity during excavation. The results are that when length increases, horizontal displacement gradually decreases, declines, earth pressure at wall’s back rises. With increase size pile, its bending resistance enhances gradually, reduces, while slightly increases. When grows, weakened under process excavation, displacements decrease continuously, bottom continues strengthen. Moreover, growing, passive from front greater for keeping stability wall, stress significantly after above indicate characteristics should be deeply considered designing constructing such projects order determine overall wall. this study, used influence various factors provide reference ensuring safety whole structure.
